In April 2009 Carron Restaurant celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
The restaurant, located just a mile from Strathcarron railway station on the road to Kyle, was built and opened in 1979 by Rob and Jan Teago with business partners Anne and Barry Jones. Anne and Barry retired from business and the area in 1992. The restaurant was sold by the partners and Rob & Jan took over the running of the Carron Pottery, Craft Shop and Gallery next door, and continue there today.
The new owners were Sarah & Seamus Doyle who ran the restaurant for a further six years until the end of 1997.
Rob & Jan's son Peter and his wife Michelle took over the restaurant in February 1998 and continue to run it to this day, bringing up their family Alexander & Stephen as well.
We have made a few changes over the years, but the goal has remained the same, of producing wholesome home made food for locals and visitors alike
.
As well as producing good food in the restaurant, we started to provide an outside catering service for private functions, weddings etc, and also provide a baking and cooking takeaway service for visitors in holiday cottages in the area and for locals too.
Peter's speciality is pastry and he provides a very special sweet trolley.
2006 saw the introduction of Christmas Hampers with our own Christmas Cakes, Christmas Puddings and many more goodies besides.
2006 saw us open the restaurant in December for the first time. In 2008 we opened during the day for both November and December which was a great success.
Also in 2008 Peter started to produce homemade bread & rolls every day. This has proved very popular and will continue.
